Shire Hall Filming
On Wednesday 18th September we had our first filming shoot at the Courtroom Experience in Shire Hall in Bodmin. We had the objective of documenting a court session which consists of wax figures. This was a great experience as it enabled me to get a sight into filmmaking.
Starting off, I had to film a worker narrating about the court session and backstory. This was a couple of minutes long and the opening of the documentary. Thinking about the editing, we got some shots of the building itself to overlay the narrator speaking.
I was also assigned to get close up shots of the judge and witness with my partner Elijah. We used the pan technique to get both figures in the shots. Doing this, we had to operate the camera carefully as we had to turn down the brightness when the courtroom lights were on the judge; also refocus post-pan without there being too much irritation.
On Wednesday 25th September, we had a second filming shoot, which was just re-filming the court session as the first time it did not work properly. I did the same low-angle shot as the first shoot. There was no need to get any other shots of things such as around the building as we had finished that with the first shoots, therefore after this all our work was done.
